Inspired by the colorful life of South Louisiana, Lorraine Gendron fashions and paints all of her pieces completely by hand. Mississippi River mud - which she digs from the banks of the river near her home - forms the basis for her whimsical sculptures. And her husband cuts and sands each shape of her wooden pieces before she paints them. Her work is exhibited in the Smithsonian Institute, Louisiana Tech University, and Gallery at the Library of Congress.
