Judy at the Rink
Since 1981, residents of the Garden District, Old Metairie and Uptown New Orleans, as well as national and international visitors to New Orleans, have looked to Judy for their home decoration, fashion accessory and wedding/debutante gift requirements. Originally established on Magazine Street and named for owner/decorator Judy Appelbaum, Judy was acquired by current owners Kay and Roy Fausset in 1995 and moved to the Rink complex in the heart of the Garden District in the fall of 1996. Located at 2727 Prytania Street, Judy at the Rink is one block from the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line and one block from the world famous Commander’s Palace Restaurant.
Judy reflects the style and taste of its owner and chief buyer, Kay Fausset, a native Houstonian raised in Paris, France, who moved to New Orleans in 1980 after 10 years in Washington, DC. Kay has sought objects of practical elegance and reasonable price that blend well with New Orleans’ entertainment lifestyle and architectural distinctiveness. In addition to art work from various local and Gulf Coast area artists and artisans, Judy stocks a variety of distinctive ceramic and glass tableware items, lamps, photo frames, and fashion jewelry, scarves and purses. Among its suppliers Judy counts Annieglass, Simon Pearce, and Beatriz Ball as well as local artisans Steve Hasslock, Monet France, India Stewart and Elaine Gleason. Judy maintains both wedding gift and debutante gift registries (call us for information), provides free signature gift wrap, and makes deliveries in selected areas of New Orleans and Metairie at a nominal cost. Shipping to United States addresses is also available.
The Judy staff is experienced and well acquainted with the families of New Orleans who form the principle Judy customer base – an assurance to our out-of-town gift purchasers that staff gift recommendations and selections will please the recipients.
